Belinda Cotton

Although starting out as an administrator in an international fine art auction house, Belinda worked from entry level museum roles through to senior executive positions in public museums and galleries, both regional and national.

While her first love is the visual arts, she has worked with artists, writers, musicians, performers and cultural practitioners across the broad spectrum of the Australian arts and culture sector.

With strong diplomacy and collaborative skills honed by working on travelling exhibitions, Belinda has a diverse and broad skillset including strategic thinking, governance, project and event management, public programming, networking, development, fundraising and client relationship management. She has worked in the international cultural diplomacy space and has a successful track record in fundraising and grants.

Prior to moving to Tasmania, she worked at the National Gallery of Australia (Canberra ACT), New England Regional Art Museum (Armidale NSW) and Sotheby’s (London UK).

Her formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts from Sydney University is a graduate of the AMaGA 2018 Museum Leadership Program. She has held executive positions on the Board of Directors of AMaGA National Council and Jigsaw Theatre Company as well as participating on numerous committees and working groups. She is a member of the Arts Tasmania Peer Register and has just completed six years on the Board of Contemporary Art Tasmania (CAT, Hobart), stepping down as Chair in April 2022.

Belinda is an active member of several professional associations including International Council of Museums (ICOM), Australian Museums & Galleries Association (AMaGA), Australasian Registrars Committee (ARC) and the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA).
